Omaha man injured in Gretna accident last week succumbed to his injuries
Gretna, Nebraska – An Omaha resident succumbed to his injuries after a traffic collision last week in the vicinity of Hwy 50 and Hwy 370, as confirmed by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office.
Eyewitness accounts report that a Ford Mustang unexpectedly hit the back of a Freightliner box truck. The Mustang’s driver, a young 20-year-old named Anthony Barnes from Omaha, was grievously injured in the crash. The Gretna Fire Department responded swiftly, providing emergency transport for Barnes to Bergan Mercy Hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, Barnes’s injuries were too severe, and he was declared dead at the hospital.
The individual operating the box truck emerged from the accident unharmed. Currently, the Sarpy County Crash Response Unit is diligently working to unravel the circumstances that led to this tragic accident.
