Two people died in a night fire in a house in Omaha

OMAHA, Nebraska — Officials say two victims were found early Saturday in a home fire in east Omaha.

The fire broke out in a house near 20th and Burdett Streets and Omaha. Fire crews arrived at the scene at 2:58.

Omaha Fire says the flames were difficult to put out because the stairs and part of the ground floor collapsed. The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes.

Two victims were found inside the building, no other casualties or injuries were reported.

The fire caused approximately $94,000 in damage and the cause is still under investigation.
