Highway accident in Gretna puts driver in hospital
Gretna, Nebraska – A serious accident occurred in Gretna that left one man fighting for his life early Wednesday morning. The incident involved a Ford Mustang and a Freightliner box truck at a local intersection.

Witnesses told the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office that they saw the Mustang “strike the rear of a Freightliner box truck” in the area where Hwy 50 meets Hwy 370. The impact was severe enough to cause critical injuries to the driver of the Mustang.
After the crash, the Gretna Fire Department quickly responded. They provided immediate assistance at the scene and then rushed the injured man to Bergan Mercy Hospital. His condition was deemed critical, and he is currently receiving treatment.
The aftermath of the crash brought the Sarpy County Crash Response Unit to the scene. They are “conducting an investigation into the crash,” working to understand the cause and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
