Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Omaha man has died in Wednesday morning crash on state Highway 50

SARPY COUNTY, Nebraska – On Wednesday morning, authorities and emergency officials were at the site of an accident that resulted in a fatality.

Following the collision between two vehicles that occurred on state Highway 50 close to Capehart Road at approximately 11:15 a.m., a dispatcher for Sarpy County informed us that one individual had passed away as a result of the incident.

According to a press release issued by the Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday afternoon, Devon Looney, 28, of Omaha, was driving a northbound Ford F-150 pickup when he collided with a northbound Chevrolet Express van driven by a 42-year-old man from Papillion. Looney was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

According to the report, medical personnel at the scene pronounced Looney deceased. The driver of the van was harmed in the collision; however, the dispatcher reported earlier on Wednesday that the driver’s injuries were not deemed to be life-threatening.

Following the collision, there was a delay in traffic in all directions for a period of time, and there was still some disruption to traffic at about 12:30 p.m.

According to the announcement, the investigation is being carried out by the Crash Response Unit of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, and the department will not be providing any other details at this time.

In addition, emergency personnel from the Papillion Fire Department rushed to the scene of the collision.
