Wednesday morning crash in Sarpy County fatal for one person, local authorities released new details

PAPILLION, Nebraska — A car accident on Wednesday morning resulted in the death of a 28-year-old man, according to a statement issued by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office.

It said: “A collision involving two vehicles was reported on Highway 50 and Capehart Road at approximately 11:15 a.m., at which time the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office and the Papillion Fire Department went to the scene. On Highway 50, a collision occurred between a northbound Ford F-150 and a northbound Chevrolet Express van. Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction.”

Michael Weeks, 42, from Papillion was identified as the driver of the van by the authorities. He was completely unharmed. Devon Looney, a 28-year-old resident of Omaha, was operating the F-150 pickup. At the scene, he was deemed to be deceased.

The collision is being looked into by the sheriff’s office at this time.
