Preliminary hearings scheduled for suspects in Sarpy County Jail murder
Papillion, Nebraska – In a significant development concerning the murder of an inmate at the Sarpy County Jail, One of the three men charged in connection with a Sarpy County Jail inmate’s murder waived his preliminary hearing last week. The events surrounding this case have seen notable progress and are being closely monitored by both legal practitioners and the public.
Diego Vasquez, Jr.’s case will go to district court.” Vasquez, Jr. is now facing charges as an accessory to murder in the death of 43-year-old Huan Pham. As the proceedings evolve, the date for Vasquez, Jr.’s trial remains undetermined.
However, Vasquez isn’t the only individual implicated in this grave incident. Derek Kern is also charged as an accessory. Initially, Kern was slated for a preliminary hearing on Monday. But, in a recent turn of events, he filed to continue his hearing. It will now take place October 30.
The most significant charge relates to Dreshawn Stewart, is charged with Pham’s murder. Stewart is set to face his preliminary hearing on Tuesday afternoon, marking a crucial juncture in the case.
The entire incident unraveled when Pham had been found unresponsive in his cell on August 5. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead. The circumstances surrounding Pham’s death have sparked concern and heightened attention on the county’s jail system.
