City of Gretna expands recreation with state-of-the-art YMCA facility
Gretna, Nebraska – The City of Gretna is witnessing an exciting expansion as Gretna Crossing Park opens its brand-new YMCA facility. At 5:00 a.m., the doors of this state-of-the-art establishment welcomed a rush of eager new members, keen on exploring what the YMCA has to offer.
Michelle Hannah, the Senior Membership Director at the YMCA, expressed her delight at the enthusiasm of the members. “It’s just been a steady stream of new members finishing up their membership, getting their pictures taken, and familiarizing themselves with the new space,” she remarked.
This YMCA branch boasts an impressive list of amenities. Notably, it houses an indoor pool and the largest wellness center among any metro YMCA. Additionally, it provides a daycare, a community room, and more.
Local residents are thrilled with the proximity of this new facility. Lindsey Kock, one of the new members, shared her anticipation, “We live in just a neighborhood nearby, and it’s great to see it finally completed.” Another member, Jean Stoley, added, “A lot of really great things for my grandkids. We all live in Gretna.”
One standout feature attracting members is the EGYM equipment. Described by Hannah as “a personal trainer in the machine,” the EGYM offers a completely personalized workout experience. Each member receives a unique bracelet that, when activated, adjusts the gym machines according to the user’s height, weight, and strength. This customization ensures that members receive an optimized workout tailored specifically for them.
Members are eagerly anticipating trying out the various amenities. Stoley is particularly excited about the walking track and the pool for water classes, while Ronald Johns mentioned the convenience of having a coffee shop within the premises.
Furthermore, in a bid to further enhance its offerings, the YMCA will unveil an outdoor aquatic center, slated to open its doors in the summer of 2024. The future indeed looks promising for Gretna’s newest recreational hub.
