Papillion welcomes Sarpy County’s new correctional center
Papillion, Nebraska – Sarpy County proudly announces the official opening of its cutting-edge correctional center. Located at the junction of 84th Street and Highway 370 in Papillion, this state-of-the-art facility is now fully functional, having successfully transferred its inmates and staff from the old facility.
One of the standout features of the new center is its secure courtroom where first-appearance hearings will be held, allowing for seamless legal proceedings within the complex itself. In light of this move, there have been changes to the jail’s primary contact details. Correspondences can now be directed to its new address at 1206 Golden Gate Drive, Papillion. Those wishing to communicate via phone can do so at the updated number: (402) 949-3369.
For the convenience of visitors, a 24/7 operational kiosk has been set up at the “Bonding/Release” entrance. This kiosk accepts both cash and card payments, enabling family members to post bond for inmates. It also allows deposits into an inmate’s account, which can be used to buy phone time or commissary goods.
Additionally, the facility has been designed with a focus on rehabilitation. It incorporates a dedicated space for rehab programs and a specialized behavioral health unit. Notably, the center will pioneer the state’s first forensic psychiatry fellowship, catering to the needs of inmates suffering from mental illnesses.
Prospective visitors should note that visitation sessions will recommence from Thursday, Sept. 21. However, in a modern twist, all interactions will be conducted exclusively through video, regardless of being remote or on-site.
This ambitious project, which has now come to fruition, had its inception in April of 2021 when the ground was first broken. The new center symbolizes Sarpy County’s commitment to a progressive and compassionate approach to corrections.
