Gretna home narrowly avoids destruction in seizure-related crash

Gretna, Nebraska – Authorities in Gretna are conducting an investigation into a car crash that occurred Tuesday evening, speculating that the driver may have suffered a seizure prior to the incident.

The incident unfolded just west of the Tiburon Golf Course, near the intersection of S. 180th St. and Camelback Ave, prompting a call for assistance shortly before 5 p.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders were faced with the task of extricating the driver from the wreckage, which had collided with a residential home. Emergency personnel had to cut through the house in order to free the driver.

A resident living next door recounted the harrowing experience, sharing that she was in her yard when the car crashed through their fence. Thankfully, the driver narrowly missed their house and their daughter’s bedroom.

Expressing her shock and gratitude, Melissa Soash stated, “She was in her room on her bed at the time of the accident. I don’t think I’ve ever been so shaken up in my entire life. Just a few more feet and that could have been my house and my whole family gone.”

Paramedics promptly transported the driver to the hospital for medical attention. Investigators have indicated that the driver is expected to recover from the incident.
