Woman arrested for unusual theft in Grand Island

Grand Island, Nebraska – A woman has been taken into custody for allegedly sneaking into a job site in Grand Island and stealing a simple item: a roll of painter’s tape. According to the Grand Island Police Department, this incident took place around 1:15 p.m. on Friday, near the intersection of North Wheeler Avenue and West Fifth Street.

The suspect, identified as Crystal Michaelski, reportedly took the tape while the workers were preoccupied, eating lunch in the driveway. But her actions didn’t stop there. After her initial theft, “Michaelski is then accused of going next door and trying to force her way into the property before being removed,” police shared.

What made the situation even more baffling for local authorities was that no one in the vicinity recognized Michaelski. “Police said no one in the area knew who she was or gave her permission to be there.” Consequently, she was taken into custody, and Michaelski now faces charges on suspicion of burglary.
