Shoplifter evades arrest after altercation with officer in Omaha

Omaha, Nebraska – An off-duty police officer faced an altercation on Wednesday night at an Omaha Walmart.

Omaha police reported that the officer, who served “from another jurisdiction,” attempted to intervene with a shoplifter “at the store near 50th Street and Ames Avenue around 10:45 p.m.”

However, the situation quickly escalated. The suspect didn’t comply and “reportedly fought back and got away.” Following the altercation, the officer promptly “called for backup.” Despite the swift response, authorities were unable to trace or apprehend the elusive shoplifter.

Thankfully, amidst the chaos, the officer remained unharmed.
