Sarpy County woman, accused of fleeing the scene after attacking and injuring a deputy, has been located and arrested

SARPY COUNTY, Nebraska – A person accused of shoplifting and injuring a deputy while escaping in a car has been located.

A week ago, our 6 On Your Side Crimestoppers alert featured dramatic body cam footage of an officer being assaulted. That the news prompted a tip that resulted to an arrest.

A Sarpy County deputy cautions one of two reluctant shoplifting suspects not to flee when approaching them.

The deputy was overheard stating, “Stand exactly there and do not dare put the keys in the car.”

But she disregarded the warning, started the car, and put it in backward. The deputy’s cheek was lacerated by the passenger side door as he struggled to take the other suspect into custody.

Captain Kevin Griger of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office remarked, “I believe he was really fortunate.” “He could have easily fallen under or behind the vehicle when the woman backed out. The injury may have been considerably worse than the few stitches that were required.

Despite being injured, the deputy apprehended Imesha Davis at the scene, but investigators claim she refused to identify the fleeing accomplice. The fleeing suspect, however, was captured by a body camera.

In this instance, the body camera assisted in identifying the suspect.

The body camera captured the face of the guy we were searching for who ended up hurting our deputy at the time of the incident.

Lakeisha Davis was arrested after Sarpy County Crimestoppers got a report identifying her as the fleeing suspect shown in the body camera footage broadcast on 6 News.

Darrel Engleman, Crimestoppers’ treasurer, remarked, “They advanced the inquiry and led to tips for which we offer rewards.”

Engleman provided a second instance. The perpetrators of the roman candle attacks were apprehended after the video sparked tips.

These incentives were requested by law enforcement and approved by Crimestoppers because the information provided helped solve the crime.

The informant who provides the identify of the fleeing shoplifting suspect may be eligible for a reward once the case has been resolved. The injured deputy’s body camera captured the image of the suspect’s face that led to his identification.

According to the arrest warrant, the two shoplifting suspects are sisters. In addition to shoplifting, both are charged with assaulting an officer. Lakeisha Davis has been charged with assaulting a police officer with a motor vehicle.
