Woman pulls out of deadly hit-and-run in Omaha
OMAHA, Nebraska (Nebraska) — A woman has appeared in court after she allegedly left the scene of a fatal hit-and-run last year.
The victim, 29-year-old Jerica Schuman, was walking near 75th Street and Maple Street in the early morning of November 1, 2022, when she was hit by a car that fled the scene. The car was found the next day.
The driver allegedly told police that he panicked after hitting the pedestrian and that she drove around the scene in her car several times to make sure the pedestrian was getting proper assistance, but she never stopped or called the police.
According to Douglas County court documents, 21-year-old Brianna Polinsky did not contest leaving the scene of an injury causing serious bodily injury or death.

Polinski will be sentenced on April 25. She faces up to 4 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
