Windy Wednesday with clouds and mild temperatures; Thursday hotter and scattered clouds

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (Nebraska) -SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP)- After a sunny and mostly mild Tuesday, conditions will continue like this on Wednesday with more cloud and breezy conditions. Clouds will continue to filter in Thursday with one caveat, warmer temperatures.

As the high pressure remains under control, it has moved eastward, and this has opened up the Gulf of Mexico a bit, giving the area some moisture, allowing some clouds to enter the area on Wednesday. This will cause temperatures to be slightly cooler on Wednesday with highs in the 90’s to 90’s with breezy winds of 5 to 20 mph, with a southerly and easterly direction. Nightly lows will drop into the 20’s and 30’s with dull and lit clouds still around and the winds dipping down to about 5-10 mph. As we head into Thursday, the high moves further east, bringing warmer temperatures and keeping the clouds around with highs climbing well into the 60s to well into the 70s in some locations.

As we head into Thursday night into Friday, a strong thunderstorm system will be moving through the area and will bring with it some dangers and rapid changes. The first thing this system will bring is the chance of rain and snow. Snowfall will generally be less than 2 inches right now, but monitor that as we get closer and closer to the event. The second thing is that the system will bring much colder temperatures, which will be below normal, with highs in the 30s. Eventually, this system will bring strong winds with it. The wind range will generally be between 20 and 60 mph, with gusts between 40 and 70 mph. As we head into the weekend, conditions and temperatures will improve with highs in the 60s to 70s and sunny skies.
