William Wright facing another charge in addition to second-degree murder charges

LINCOLN, Nebraska – A guy detained for second-degree murder is now charged with first-degree murder in connection with a second homicide in Lincoln.

Wednesday, Lincoln Police arrested 55-year-old William Wright of Lincoln for 1st Degree Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Felony in relation to the death of Ronnie J. Patz of Lincoln.

The Lincoln Police Department opened a homicide investigation on August 31 when the body of 61-year-old Ronald S. George was discovered in a field near North 3rd and P Streets. Ronnie Patz, 49, was discovered deceased in an area around Northwest 12th and West Bond Street, as a result of information acquired throughout the inquiry.

Wright was subsequently arrested for second-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony in George’s death. William Wright was identified as a person of interest in the Patz death at the time.

Investigators and Crime Scene Technicians of the Lincoln Police Department continued their investigation by conducting further interviews, investigating other areas for evidence, including the City of Lincoln Landfill, and collecting evidence for future forensic processing.

William Wright was ultimately arrested as a consequence of their persistent efforts throughout the investigation and the results of forensic examinations.
