Wildfire in village near Lincoln prompted authorities to evacuate the Halsey village

LINCOLN, Nebraska – Sunday, the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands Organization reported a significant wildfire near Halsey in the Bessey Ranger District.

The fire, according to officials, is burning very swiftly and has already crossed Highway 2.

The nearby campgrounds and the community of Halsey have been evacuated due to the fire.

Forest service personnel and volunteer firemen have arrived.
