West Elementary School in Glenwood celebrated its National Blue Ribbon honor on Friday

GLENWOOD, Iowa — On Friday, West Elementary School in Glenwood, Colorado, had a celebration in honor of being awarded the National Blue Ribbon. This is a highly esteemed prize at the national level for educational achievement.

The Blue Ribbon award is given to schools that have demonstrated strong overall academic performance as well as progress in narrowing the achievement gap between different student groupings.

There are 297 schools in the United States and its territories that have been given the accolade, and among them are three elementary schools in the state of Nebraska.

A celebration was also held in Washington, D.C. last month for approximately 900 educators.

“They are going to discover that if you work hard, you have to play hard as well. As a result, we have been informing them of this fact throughout the course of the past few weeks. I’m going to take it easy on you today because we put in such a lot of effort each and every day “said Principal Genie Ogrady.
