Warmer air arrives in time for the weekend

Thursday’s cold front brought another blow of reinforcing cold air. Temperatures started in the single digits in southeast Nebraska Friday morning, with winds shivering below freezing.

We should see temperatures rise into the 30s by the afternoon. Meanwhile, with winds transitioning southerly at 10-20 mph, which will send afternoon wind chills into the teens and 20s.

High temperatures will have a decent chance of bottoming out in the mid-30s on Friday, but some locations could get stuck in the 20s. This is slightly below average for this time of year.

Many in central Nebraska woke up to a bridge of low cloud on Friday and these clouds will attempt to spread east. This could allow skies to become mostly cloudy for a period of time over central Nebraska. However, these will eventually break as they attempt to slide into eastern Nebraska. Lincoln will likely be on the sunnier side of things for Friday.

As we head into the weekend, temperatures will rise significantly. We’re looking at highs in the 40s and 50s, with no worries about precipitation. If you have outdoor plans this weekend, the weather certainly won’t hold you back.
