VIDEO: This is the thinnest mechanical watch in the world

The Italian luxury brand Bulgari presented the thinnest mechanical watch in the world. The watch is called Octo Finissimo Ultra and is proof that not everything has to be digital and electronic to be interesting to people.

But that does not mean that the most advanced technology was not used to produce it. To make such a slim mechanical watch, Bulgari had to innovate in glass assembly and deal with elements such as the drum structure, the oscillator module, the differential display, the modular structure, the bimetallic body and the central body plate of the body.

Despite the flat appearance, the Octo Finissimo Ultra still winds up manually. It also has a QR code engraved on it which, when scanned, opens up online material including interviews, video making, 3D virtual clock walking and access to exclusive NFT artwork, which guarantees the watch’s authenticity. In addition, certain components had to be designed to perform four functions instead of one.

In other words, although mechanical, the watch is a remarkable innovation in itself.

“We had to break the rules not only in terms of the design of the moving parts, but also of the housing, the rear and the assembly parts. “To achieve such a small thickness we not only had to rethink the way we think, but also to use a wide range of skills, play with more materials and adapt to many new constraints,” said Fabrizio Buonamasa Stigliani, CEO of product development department in Bulgari.

The Octo Finissimo Ultra is produced in a very limited series of only 10 units and will cost $ 440,000.
