Vandalism at Lincoln Church in the northeast caused over $6,000 worth of damage.

LINCOLN, Nebraska (Nebraska). The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a case of vandalism at Lincoln’s northeast church that caused thousands of dollars in damage.

At 10:57 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to First United Methodist Church, located near North 50th Street and Madison Avenue, in connection with a burglary report.

The LPD said officers on the scene spoke to the pastor, who said CCTV cameras caught four strangers entering the church on Wednesday evening and damaging a number of items.

According to police, a fire extinguisher was fired at the sanctuary, a glass chandelier was smashed, a flat-screen TV, a remote control and a microphone were smashed, two stained-glass windows had numerous cracks, a wooden pedestal was broken, a Bible and oil were shredded. and ashes were scattered over the bench cushions.

Investigators estimated total damage to the church at $6,575.
