UPDATE: Lincoln Police Says Auction Will Take Place
LINCOLN, Nebraska (Nebraska). On Thursday night, the Lincoln Police Department revealed that the Marriott Hotel in Lincoln was actually having some sort of sale or auction going on this Saturday, and that their earlier warning that the auction was fake was due to confusion after they talked with a hotel employee.
The police initially sent out a warning to their social media accounts and the media, stating that the auction advertised on signs across the city was a fake and that no auction took place at the Marriott Hotel. Police now say that “there is some kind of sale/auction going on at the Marriott this Saturday,” however they said they don’t know what items are being sold.
Posters posted throughout the city list various items for sale and include a phone number. The signs do not indicate who is putting the items up for auction. Lincoln police said similar signs appeared in other cities.
