UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on everyone in the world to be vaccinated against the coronavirus

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres today at the Virtual World Economic Forum in Davos called on everyone in the world to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, adding that otherwise the world will not emerge from the pandemic.

– The past two years have shown a simple but brutal truth. If we put someone aside, we leave the whole world aside. “If we fail to vaccinate every human being, we create new strains of the coronavirus,” he said. According to him, without vaccination of all the virus will continue to spread and endanger daily life and the economy.

Guterres added that the WHO had previously presented a strategy to vaccinate 40 percent of people in all countries by the end of 2021, and 70 percent by the middle of this year.

“We are far from those goals,” Guterres said.

The UN Secretary General assessed that it is a shame that the vaccination rate in rich countries is seven times higher than in African countries.
