Ukrainian authorities announced today that they have evidence of Russia’s involvement in a major cyber attack that hit the websites of the government of this country four days ago.
“So far, all the evidence suggests that Russia is behind the cyber attack,” said Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation.
The sabotage is “a manifestation of the hybrid war that Russia has been waging against Ukraine since 2014,” the ministry said.
The aim of the attack is not only to intimidate Ukrainian society, but also to destabilize the situation in the country and reduce the confidence of Ukrainians in the government, according to the same source.
The cyber attack took place on the night between Thursday and Friday and hit the locations of several Ukrainian ministries, which were inaccessible for several hours.
Moscow has denied cyber attacks on Ukraine.
