Two arrested after finding over 100 kilos of marijuana in a traffic block

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (Press Release) – Nebraska State Patrol has sent out a press release saying it has arrested two men after they located more than 100 pounds of suspected marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Kimball County.

At approximately 1:25 pm Thursday, a soldier stopped traffic on an eastbound Chrysler 300 for speeding on I-80 near mileage 18.

During the traffic stop, the policeman detected the smell of marijuana.

As the police officer was preparing to search the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee on foot.

The soldier pursued on foot.

A passerby stopped at the scene and helped the policeman take the driver into custody.

A search of the vehicle revealed numerous bags of suspected marijuana contained in duffel bags in the rear of the vehicle.

Total weight was about 120 lbs.

The driver, 42-year-old Daniel Ledbetter of Atlantic City, NJ, and the passenger, 48-year-old Keith Wyatt of Sacramento, California, were arrested for possession of marijuana — more than a pound, possession with intent to distribute, and no stamp duty on drugs.

Ledbetter was also arrested for resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.

Both were deposited in the Kimball County Jail.
