Two 12-year-olds Miami-Dade students were shot and injured by a teenager while waiting to board a school bus

Authorities in Miami-Dade County, Florida, have verified that two children aged 12 years old were shot on Thursday morning as they waited for their school bus in the northwest part of the county.

The shooting took place at 7:57 in the morning. somewhat close to the intersection of Northwest 109th Street and 10th Avenue.

According to Miami-Dade police Detective Argemis Colome, a 16-year-old approached the two victims and demanded their smartphones. The two victims were walking down the street. According to the officials, he did not wait to hear their response before opening fire on them.

“These are two minors; in fact, they are both 12 years old. It could be that our kids are simply on their way to school. “That is the last thing that any parent has on their mind — that their 12-year-olds who are waiting to go to school would be shot at,” Colome added. “That is the last thing that any parent has on their mind.”

Ricrido Gaspard, a parent who lives in the area and was dropping off his own children at school when he heard the gunshots, shared his story with Local 10 News.

He claimed to have seen one of the two youngsters who had been wounded lying on the ground and pleading for assistance after he had been shot.

Gaspard stated, “I saw a child who had been shot in the leg.” “He told me, ‘I’m really in pain,'” she added. I just can’t keep it in any longer.'”

Trauma warnings were issued for both patients as they were being transferred to a local hospital by personnel from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. According to Colome, both are stated to be in stable condition.

Director of the Miami-Dade Police Department Fredy Ramirez issued the following statement:

“I am shocked to learn that a person who was only 16 years old had access to a rifle as well as two handguns. The fact that he shot two of our children while they were unarmed with one of these rifles is profoundly upsetting to me. There should not be a need for any parent to be concerned about their child when they are waiting for the school bus. Today, we narrowly avoided losing two lives to needless gun violence, but the tragedy has now touched the lives of three families. These problems start at home and need to be addressed as soon as possible. We shall keep being a part of our community and a resource for those who live here.

During the time that police were looking for the culprit, a local school was reportedly placed on lockdown, according to a source who spoke to Local 10 News.

Around 9:30 in the morning, Sky 10 was seen flying above the region. as the guy was arrested by the law enforcement officers a few blocks away.

The suspect was reportedly discovered hiding in a shed in the yard of a duplex on Northwest 96th Street, according to sources who spoke with Local 10 News.

His identity has not been made public at this time.

One concerned parent who was there at the event was overheard saying, “As a father of two, like I said, I simply can’t believe he would get himself tangled up in this at such a young age.”

The three firearms were confirmed to have been recovered from the suspect at the scene by the police.
