Tuesday crash in Omaha fatal for one person, investigation ongoing

OMAHA, Nebraska — An investigation has been opened by the Omaha Police Department following the death of a man, age 27, who was involved in a collision on Tuesday night.

Officers were dispatched to the vicinity of 37th and Dewey at 12:30 in the morning in response to a crash involving a single car that resulted in personal injuries.

According to the reports of the police, a 2020 Kia Forte was driving westbound on Harney Street in the incorrect direction when it left the roadway, uprooting a small tree in the process and colliding with a guide wire.

After continuing forward through an empty parking lot, the vehicle eventually collided with a big tree. DJ Michael Myers, 27, from Council Bluffs, was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The inquiry into the crash is ongoing at this time.
