Trump: I like Musk, but I’m not going back to Twitter
Former US President Donald Trump has said he will not return to Twitter now that the social network is owned by Elon Musk.
Trump was banned from Twitter for life after the attack on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021.
Since leaving office, Trump has turned to his private social network, Truth Social, and uses it as his main way of communicating with like-minded people. Many of his supporters and allies have also been banned or restricted on social media following the Capitol riots.
After months of negotiations, Musk completed the purchase of Twitter on Thursday and signed a deal worth $44 billion. He tweeted that “the bird has been released,” a sign that he will loosen his content moderation practices.
He then fired three executives at Twitter.
Trump has previously indicated that he has no intention of returning to this network.
“I am very happy that Twitter is now in sane hands and will no longer be run by radical lunatics and maniacs who hate our country,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
