Train derails east of Gothenburg
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (Nebraska) – Cleanup work is underway on Tuesday morning after a train derailed east of Gothenburg.
The accident happened at 12:18. A dozen cars are off the track.
Law enforcement and Union Pacific Railroad crews are also at the scene.
A witness who declined to be named said this was the third derailment at this exact spot in the past six months and said it was due to a broken rail.
We have reached out to Union Pacific for comment. No word on whether the incident is a danger to the public.
The incident is still under investigation.
