Traffic stop on Wednesday morning in Douglas County resulted with huge drug bust, two people arrested

OMAHA, Nebraska – Wednesday morning, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office detained two California residents after discovering around 90 pounds of marijuana during a traffic check.

Tadeo Torres-Velasquez and Juan Lopez-Alvarez were detained for possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute it.

According to the announcement, a K-9 unit sergeant stopped a car for speeding at approximately 3 a.m. near I-80 East and 72nd Street. According to officials, the sergeant identified Torres-Velasquez and Lopez-Alvarez as the two occupants of the vehicle who exhibited numerous signs of drug trafficking.

Approximately 90 pounds of marijuana were discovered in the trunk of the automobile.

According to reports, investigators were able to search the car with probable cause during the questioning because a Spanish-speaking officer from Omaha was sent owing to the language issue.
