TikTok has just introduced Photo Mode, copying Instagram

Although we are used to social networks copying TikTok, now this platform has started copying Instagram.

It’s a new mode called Photo Mode, which allows TikTok users to share multiple photos in one post, and also increases the number of characters for the description – to 2,200.

New photo posts, which may include music, will appear on the For You Page alongside clips. TikTok said they hope Photo Mode, combined with the increased number of characters, will allow creators to “express themselves and connect more deeply with others.”

But Photo Mode also makes For You Page more Instagram-like in a way that isn’t exactly creative. Creators already use this feature to share “recycled” text memes and other content that is often popular right on Instagram.

The fact that TikTok is now copying Instagram’s original feature is especially interesting because Instagram has struggled with engagement in the case of its TikTok clone, which is Reels. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that TikTok is far ahead of Instagram Reels in daily viewership.
