Thursday afternoon stabbing incident in eastern Cass County fatal for one female victim, teenager arrested

PLATTSMOUTH, Nebraska – A male, age 18, has been detained in connection with the fatal stabbing of a lady in eastern Cass County.

Thursday afternoon, deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were summoned to a residence south of Plattsmouth on Highway 75 for a probable disturbance.

On the site, detectives saw that a small fire had been doused and that a woman’s body was discovered on the living room floor surrounded by blood.

The lady, subsequently identified as Mary Blackwell, 55, suffered many lacerations and a fatal knife cut to the chest, according to the sheriff’s office.

At the scene, Blackwell was pronounced deceased.

According to CCSO, Jabari Parsons, 18, was detained and charged with first- and second-degree murder after being discovered at the crime site.

On Friday, an autopsy was scheduled.
