Omaha, Nebraska – The spread of the Omicron continues in the Douglas County area once again bringing high number of new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday.
According to the Douglas County Health Department, there have been 1,636 new positive Covid-19 cases in the daily report on Wednesday. With those added in the total statistics, there have been a total of 126,833 cases since March 2020.
In addition to the new cases, Douglas County added three additional Covid-19 related deaths. The department announced that all three people were unvaccinated.
Reportedly, two men aged 45 and 55 and one woman in her 60s were the three Covid-19 deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 967 total Covid-19 related deaths in Douglas County.
On Wednesday, there have been 207 beds available in hospitals in the area with hospitals running at 86% of their capacities. ICUs were also 89% full with 33 beds available. Pediatric ICUs were 77% full, with 31 beds available.
When it comes to hospitalizations, there are 410 people in hospital treated with Covid-19. According to the department, 14 of them are children, treated in the pediatric care. A 52 people are on ventilator support.
