OMAHA, Nebraska — During “Native American Heritage Month,” Representative Don Bacon honored Senator Tom Brewer.On Monday, an event was conducted at the Ponca Tribe Administration Building.
Brewer is the first Native American to serve in Nebraska’s unicameral legislature.
Additionally, he was honored for his military service. During the event, Brewer addressed members of the Ponca Tribe.
“You people should have your heads held high. Be proud of your accomplishments. Because there was almost a period when you did not exist. “The government had forgotten about you, but now you’re on track to become an example for everyone,” said Brewer.
Bacon also handed congressional record copies of statements he made on the house floor on September 20 commemorating Sioux Nation member Brewe.
