OMAHA, Nebraska — This weekend, Lauritzen Gardens will once again host the Japanese Ambience Festival, a celebration of our first sister city, Shizuoka, Japan, and Japanese culture.
Initiated in 2005, the Omaha Sister Cities Association assists in the organization of the event.
Guests will participate in activities such as Japanese calligraphy, origami, traditional Japanese games, and food samplings.
There will also be performances such as martial arts exhibitions and Japanese music and dancing.
The festival funds the following phases of construction for the planned Japanese Garden in Lauritzen.
Mia Jenkins, marketing director at Lauritzen Gardens, stated, “It’s great to demonstrate support for various cultures and what they bring to our society, and they have a tremendous love and appreciation for environment, so it fits at Lauritzen Gardens.” We are pleased to highlight the beautiful contributions they provide to our community on a daily basis.
The festival takes place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
