The 20-year-old man wanted for Omaha shooting that escaped from Arkansas jail was arrested again
Omaha, Nebraska – UPDATE: The Saline County Arkansas Sheriff’s Office reports that Smith has been found and detained after a lengthy manhunt.
On Wednesday, Wuanya Smith, age 20, was taken into custody in Benton, Arkansas in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in Omaha. Smith made his getaway from the county detention facilities in Saline County, Arkansas, at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas.
Smith is being investigated as a possible suspect in the death of Anthony Collins III, which occurred on August 12. It is alleged that he committed murder in the second degree, used a weapon during the commission of a felony, and was in possession of a firearm despite being forbidden from doing so.
The sheriff’s office reports that numerous law enforcement agencies are currently hunting for the individual who is suspected of the crime. Smith is said to be 5 feet 8 inches tall, weigh 145 pounds, and have a tattoo on his neck that reads “death before dishonor.”
