Spring is in the air, but not for long

HASTINGS, Neb. (Nebraska) – The calendar says that the days are approaching the first day of spring, but the weather certainly did not portend such an effect. The next couple of days, however, could lend themselves to a bit of spring fever as warm and breezy conditions are expected to set in Tuesday through Wednesday.

Looking at the high temperatures from last week to next week, one wonders if spring will arrive. Tuesday and Wednesday will be mild, but it’s cold here.(Nebraska)

Southerly winds will pick up during the day on Tuesday, generating gusts up to 35 mph, teaming with mostly sunny skies that will push area thermometers into the low 50s with a lower 60° southwest.

Wednesday will be even hotter, with 60 degrees spread across the forecast area with lower 70s from southwest Nebraska to northern Kansas. Unfortunately, the spring period will be all too short.

It teases us with a spring warmth. Breezy.(Nebraska)

A storm system will track our south on Thursday, starting the day with temperatures warm enough to support rain showers. But a cold front will sweep through the region allowing temperatures to drop during the day, shifting from rain to snow accumulation. Strong winds associated with the front could produce gusts of up to 50 mph making visibility difficult. The timing of the front pass remains unknown, so details on the amount of snow are not yet available, but all in all Thursday could be a very bad day.

Rain, accumulation of snow and strong gusts of wind up to 50 km/h. It could be a bad day to travel. (Nebraska)

Cold air will replace mild early week weather with weekend temperatures falling well below normal, into the lower 30s with morning lows in the teens.

Next day 7…Two hot days and then colder again.(Nebraska)
