Southern Nebraska school cancels classes Monday due to threat

LINCOLN, Neb. (Nebraska) – Thayer Central Community Schools were closed on Monday out of an abundance of caution due to a threat.

Thayer’s central administration said it received a threat against the school Friday afternoon. Soon after, the administration contacted Thayer County law enforcement agencies to assist in investigating the threat. Thayer County law enforcement has contacted the Nebraska State Patrol for support in addressing the situation.

Soldiers from the Nebraska State Patrol were at the school Monday to investigate. Thayer County law enforcement agencies will also have an increased presence in and around the school until this issue is resolved, the school said.
