Soft weekend starts on a cold Saturday morning and ends with rain

OMAHA, Nebraska (Nebraska). Temperatures will be chilly early Saturday as we dropped to sub-zero temperatures overnight.

However, due to the rising southerly wind, we will see a fairly quick recovery.

By mid-afternoon temperatures will be well above freezing and we will hit the 40-degree mark for our daily highs.

This is also due to the mostly sunny skies, which makes for a very nice day.

We won’t be chilling as much tonight with lows in the mid-20s.

This sets us up for even warmer temperatures on Sunday.

By noon we are rising in the mid 40s, and although increasing cloud cover will slow down warming in the afternoon, we are still well into the 50s.

By the evening hours, showers will begin to develop and even thunderstorms are possible in places, especially to the south of the metro.

When they are at their strongest, they may have some hail.

The rain continues all night and continues until early Monday morning.

Totals for many end up in the quarter to three-quarters of an inch range, with areas south and east of the metro possibly over an inch in visibility.

Behind this system on Monday there will be strong winds with gusts reaching 40 mph.

A couple of other systems will try to bring some rain into the area on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, although none of these systems are giving us a direct hit.

During the week, the temperature remains mostly close to the average value around 40 degrees.
