Several Omaha drivers were arrested or cited during a drunk driving enforcement campaign
OMAHA, Nebraska – During the course of the drunk driving enforcement campaign, several individuals were detained or issued citations.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, they took part in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign that ran from August 19 to September 5. The campaign lasted for a total of five weeks.
The aim was to concentrate on drivers who were under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and this entailed conducting targeted enforcement in areas with a high incidence of car accidents.
Throughout the course of the campaign, there were:
58 encounters with motorists or pedestrians in total
6 formal warnings in writing
25 verbal warnings
28 traffic citations
1 traffic citation for careless driving 4 arrests for DUI
2 Driving under suspension 2 Fugitives captured
A grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety was used to pay the effort that was put into the enforcement.
