Several Garland schools went into lockouts following a shooting in the area, one shooting suspect arrested

Garland, Texas – Garland police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that occurred inside a fast-food restaurant and resulted in lockouts being implemented at adjacent schools.

Around three o’clock in the afternoon, the Garland Police Department was alerted to a shooting in the 3300 block of Broadway Boulevard. When they arrived, they discovered a male who seemed to have been shot. The patient was taken by ambulance to a nearby medical facility for treatment. He is not in any danger at this time but his health is critical.

As seen by Texas Sky Ranger, Garland police officers were seen conducting an investigation in a taped-off area outside of a Sonic drive-in restaurant that is located next to South Garland High School. This finding suggests that the shooting took place in the parking lot of the business.

Edgar Francisco Solis Torres, age 18, was taken into custody by the law enforcement officers. According to the Garland police, he is being detained at the Garland Detentions Center for the crime of aggravated assault resulting in significant bodily injury.

It has been established by the investigators that the victim of the incident attends South Garland High School. According to the police, Torres is not a student at that institution.

The investigation by the police is still ongoing.
