Rib Shack Smoke House spreads love throughout the metro area
OMAHA, Nebraska (Nebraska) — On Saturday, a local business spread the love of their community by donating delicious food.
People from the Rib Shack Smoke House in Omaha, along with other volunteers, tried to live off donations by packing lunch bags, which were then sent to six different locations throughout the metro, including the New Vision Homeless Veterans Shelter, Holy Family Church, Evans Tower and open. door mission. The giveaway was inspired by #lunchbag, a movement that started in 2012 in Los Angeles to spread love and feed the neighbors.
“The first part is to pack your lunches and write inspirational notes on your bag. You make a difference by encouraging people to tell people to keep working,” said food philanthropist Jackie Robbins. “When you’re alone, it’s hard to get someone to love you and say, ‘You matter, keep going no matter what.’ This is our goal today.”
If you want to help feed your community, Rib Shack is planning another event in May as part of National BBQ Month and they are calling on all the BBQ fanatics in the community to get together for a big BBQ party.
