Potential for windy, cool, snow flurries for Thursday; Conditions improving for the weekend
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (Nebraska) -SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP)- Conditions are expected to be wild on Thursday with cooler weather, blustery winds and the possibility of some potential snow squalls. Luckily conditions will improve as we get closer to the weekend.
A fast-moving cold front swept through the area Wednesday night and high pressure is starting to build across the region. But the cold front has slowed down a bit and with the high pressure and the cold front so close to each other, this will get us about 20 to 40 mph winds, to about 40 to 60 mph in parts of the Panhandle. These features will also allow for lift into the atmosphere and this will create the potential for a snowstorm potential, and the amount of snow expected will generally be less than an inch. With northwest to northeast winds, this will allow the area to see slightly cooler conditions for Thursday with highs around the 30s and lows of the 0s to 10s. On Thursday night conditions will improve, with clear skies and calm winds.

As we head into the weekend and into early next week, the high pressure will continue to build. This will bring warmer temperatures, which will be in the 40s to 50s, and sunny skies will also return.
Extraordinary conditions will return to the region this weekend (Andre Brooks)
