Pompano Beach shooting incident on Tuesday morning almost fatal for one local resident, police

POMPANO BEACH, Florida – A man was shot early on Tuesday morning at a Pompano Beach condominium complex and sent to the hospital.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., a shooting was reported at the Envy apartment complex on the 400 block of East Atlantic Avenue.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived at the scene.

He was sent to the nearest hospital for treatment. His status has not been disclosed.

A stray gunshot penetrated the window of a beauty supply store across the street.

The owner of TruStar Salon Services, Steve Cooper, demonstrated to Local 10 News where the bullet struck his store shelf.

“A gunshot flew straight through my windshield,” he declared.

Cooper expresses gratitude that none of his employees or clients were present at the time.

“Had it occurred during the day — on a Monday, which is usually busy — there would have been many people in this store,” he said.

Employees are currently removing the shattered glass and boarding up the window, but the store remains open for business.

Detectives from the BSO’s Criminal Investigation Division are probing the shooting’s circumstances.
