Authorities searching for three Detroit rappers who have been missing for almost two weeks found “several bodies” on Thursday in a vacant apartment building in Highland Park, Michigan.
State police have warned that the bodies have not been identified.
“Please remember that all victims have families and we don’t have the luxury of guessing about them. personality and then refuse if we didn’t get it right,” the state police tweeted. “Once the information is confirmed, we will update it.”
Taylor Perrin, the fiancĂ©e of Armani Kelly – one of the missing rappers – told the Detroit Free Press that police had informed Kelly’s family of the discovery.
“Thank you for all the love and prayers during this extremely difficult time,” Kelly’s mother, Lorrie Kemp, wrote on Facebook.
Kelly, 27, from Oscoda, Montoya Givens, 31, from Detroitand Melvindale’s Dante Wicker, 31, were scheduled to perform at a party at Lounge 31 in Detroit on January 21, but the performance was cancelled. The three have not been seen since.
State police said “many victims” were found in an abandoned apartment building in Highland Park, less than 10 miles from Detroit.
The building was described as “in a very poor state of repair and infested with rats”, which slowed down investigators’ work.
Kelly, Givens and Wicker met in jail. Kelly and Givens were on parole at the time of the disappearance, according to the state Department of Corrections.
