Police say a missing teenager has been found murdered on a train track a few steps from New York College.
A teenager who went missing from his Brooklyn home this week was found dead the next day on the tracks of a freight train with a gunshot wound to the head, police said Friday.
DeAndre Matthews, 19, has not been seen since leaving his home on East 56th Street near Linden Boulevard in East Flatbush around 5:45 p.m. Monday, authorities said.
Less than 24 hours later, police found Matthews, with “significant body burns” and a gunshot wound to the head, lying on the tracks of a freight train about three miles from Nostrand Avenue – a few steps from the Brooklyn College campus, police said.

Matthews, who also showed signs of smoke inhalation, died at the scene.
On Friday, police confirmed that his death had been ruled a homicide.
The circumstances leading to his death were not immediately known, and by Friday morning no arrests had been made.
