Patrol car involved in a crash in Council Bluffs, Iowa State Patrol trooper injured among two other people

Council Bluffs, Iowa – Iowa State Patrol vehicle collided with another vehicle resulting with three people injured including an Iowa State Patrol trooper.

According to the incident report, the crash happened in Western Iowa when the Iowa State Patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle while the trooper was responding to another single-vehicle incident along I-29 southbound near the western Iowa town of Loveland, north of Council Bluffs.

The first responders said that the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash lost control over the vehicle, striking a guard rail before crashing into the back of the patrol car.

The trooper and one of the passengers of the other vehicle suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries. However, the second passenger in the other vehicle involved suffered serious life-threatening-injuries and was transferred to hospital for treatment in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
