One person arrested after robbery in Valparasio
LINCOLN, Nebraska (Nebraska) — The Saunders County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 22-year-old teenager after a robbery in Valparaiso on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred at the U-Stop at 101 Cedar Street at 8:55 am.
The man demanded money from the clerk with a note, and then attacked the clerk and threatened to use a firearm. After assaulting the clerk, the suspect took cash from the till and fled the scene in a white four-door sedan heading south from Valparaiso.
At 9:10 a.m., a Nebraska State Patrolman saw a white sedan on Highway 79 and pursued the vehicle. After a short car and foot chase, the suspect was arrested.
Officials said the suspect was Christopher A. Short, 22, from Norfolk. Short was driving a stolen Nissan Altima that was taken to Madison County. Short also has a valid felony warrant.
Short is being held at the Lancaster County Correctional Facility on charges of harassing the NSP and will face multiple charges in Saunders County, including robbery, terrorist threats and assault, officials said.
