One of three people will be chosen by the governor to fill a county court vacancy in the Nebraska’s Second Judicial District

LINCOLN, Nebraska – The vacant seat on the county court in the Second Judicial District of the state will be filled by the governor’s selection from among the three candidates.

According to the office of Governor Ricketts, the Judicial Nominating Commission of the County Judge in the Second Judicial District has submitted three names to the governor for consideration in filling a vacancy. This information was provided by the governor’s office.

There have been three candidates put forth for consideration to fill the position: James M. Buchanan of Omaha, Gage R. Cobb of Gretna, and S. Colin Palm of Plattsmouth.

The position available is for the Second Judicial District, which includes the counties of Cass, Sarpy, and Otoe.

The vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Robert C. Wester will be filled by the nominee that is ultimately chosen.
