Omaha woman that gave birth on a sidewalk and left the newborn there has been sentenced, to spend 2 years behind bars

OMAHA, Nebraska – A mother from Omaha who admitted her guilt by pleading no contest to the charge of abandoning her infant child by leaving him or her on a sidewalk has been sentenced.

Trinity Shakespeare was found guilty of one count of child abuse and sentenced to two years in prison. In February of this year, she left the infant on a sidewalk close to the intersection of 24th and P Streets.

Both Shakespeare and the infant were brought to the hospital at the time, but their conditions were not considered to be life-threatening.
