Omaha soccer coach resigns from the position

OMAHA, Nebraska – Jay Mims is a well-known personality in the Omaha soccer community; nonetheless, he has decided to step down as the head coach of Union Omaha.

Peter Marlette, the general manager of Union Omaha, stated that working with Jay over the course of the past two years had been an honor for the company. “He is an incredible soccer coach and a fantastic ambassador for the city of Omaha. I am forward to watch where he goes with his career and send him my best wishes in the meantime.

On May 7, 2019, it was announced that Mims would serve as the organization’s first head coach. His overall record over the past three years reads 38-17-27 in terms of wins, losses, and draws across all competitions.

Jay Mims, who led Union Omaha to three consecutive championships in his role as head coach and technical director, has decided to step down from his position.

Because of Coach Mims’ contribution to the development of our club into what it is now, we will be eternally grateful to him.

Mims expressed her appreciation by saying, “I am really thankful for the opportunity Gary Green and Larry Botel offered me four years ago.” “I was employed here with no brand, no crest, no name, and no team,” the job description stated. I am pleased to say that I was able to contribute to the development of something truly remarkable from the bottom up with Union Omaha. I would want to express my gratitude to each and every one of the wonderful people I have had the opportunity to collaborate with along the route, especially each and every one of the players and staff members.

According to Union Omaha, Mims has guided players to a large number of awards in League One, including 11 choices for the All-League team.

“I will never forget the historic first season, the unveiling of the XCancer jersey collaboration, the incredible championship year, the remarkable Open Cup run, and the many league records that were accomplished,” he said. “I will always remember those things.” But above all else, I will always remember each and every one of the great, amazing, and devoted followers and supporters. I would want to thank everyone for their support as I prepare to take on a new adventure.

The search for a replacement for the current head coach has begun.
